Title: The Mighty Boosh Christmas Special of Glitter - Chapter 6 Pairing: Howard Moon/Vince Noir Summary: Vince and Howard flee the Velvet Onion, the Spirit of Jazz hot on their heels. Rating: PG Word count: ~1500
Thank you for such lovely feedback! It really put a smile on my face. I'm glad you liked the action because that's something I've been stretching my writing muscles with, both here and at the Halloween Special of Doom. I don't typically write much action so it's been fun to try something different.
I have no idea why it would remind you of a Bas Kosters fashion show... *whistles innocently*
I couldn't resist giving Vector a spot in the story. Vince's list of friends from "Party" is one of my favorite jokes on the show. If I'd kept going I'm sure Mama Zoom would have shown up, eating toast.
The emotional groundwork you laid in the first chapter was really inspiring, so I'm happy you liked what I built on top of it. I'd originally thought to have a part where someone comments that Vince and Howard are probably fine sharing a body because they're like an inseparable married couple anyway, and Howard feels a flash of anxiety from Vince and doesn't understand why. But I ended up going in a slightly different direction.
I'm especially happy that you liked the morning routine scene, as that was my favorite, too. I feel that canonically, Howard usually does respect Vince's fashion as an art, but sometimes he needs a bit of reminding that if he's allowed to spend all day on a single sentence, Vince can have an hour or two on his hair. Ahhh, I love these two crazy characters so much.
Again, thank you! I hope I get a chance to say hi to you at the Chicago show!
Oh yes, I hope to see you at the Chicago show, too! I'd love to chat in person. :)
Action writing is not really a skill I have, so I am always especially appreciative when I see it written well, and this is! Suspenseful, crisp, but never loses clarity, AND it's funny. And I was delighted to see Vector make an appearance, because I also adore that list of Vince's acquaintances, because it paints SUCH a clear picture of the particular sort of trendies and performance artist types he's hanging out with.
I love what you did with the emotions; it works really well. They'll get there (I hope!) in terms of working it out and getting things out in the open, but the direction you took was perfect. In my mind, part of Vince's issue is that intense fear of vulnerability, of making himself vulnerable and having (he assumes) capital-E Expectations to live up to and inevitably failing miserably at that and just... not being able to handle the guilt and rejection that'll surely follow. So there is something especially wonderful about him being able to feel that affection from Howard and know it's really real. Still scary, but maybe a tiny bit reassuring, too...
