Julian isn’t a soppy romantic but sometimes he’ll make exceptions, like for Noel.
There are no words now, only hushed whimpers and breathy noises through noses as they kiss, long and slow like they have all the time in the world. It hasn’t been like this for so long. Noel’s arms are wound round his neck and he’s pressed in so close that their bodies move as one when he carefully leans Noel back onto the bed, into the pillows and scrapes the hair out of his eyes. The shining round bolts of blue stare back at him with such a mixture of love and need and happiness and trust and the innocence that’s still there like it was the first time they let their guard down, completely trusting the other like they'd done with no one else before. The two lovers were home to one another, and they felt this way every time. When they were like this, they were home. Julian kisses him again, lazy with faltering tongues at the overwhelming feel of Noel back in his arms.
He tenderly lifts Noel’s shirt up and waits for him to slip it over his shoulders before he’s back on his lips, touching every part of skin he can find and it’s warm and comforting and precious. Noel’s pushing his head back as Julian presses soft kisses along his jaw and down his neck and he can hear Noel moan quietly beneath him and slowly rolls his hips. Julian loves it when Noel’s like this, passionate and passive and affectionate all at once. Julian can feel the hands at his chest as they loop the buttons out of his shirt one by one, gradually pushing it off his shoulders and drop it off the side of the bed.
Julian’s holding him now, almost cradling him and trailing fluttery kisses across his collarbone in the way he knows Noel loves. Noel soon finds his mouth again and he’s already reaching for the dulling button on Julian’s favourite trousers. Softly the worn cords are removed along with his underwear and thrown in the corner, swiftly followed by red skinnys.
Julian’s hands press lovingly over Noel’s skin and gradually peel away the bright orange fabric still covering him. He brings himself closer to Julian’s body, needing the warm softness of his lover’s skin on his and sighs. Their bodies mould together like an engraving on a ring, and lay perfectly together, like the two final pieces of a puzzle. There’s no need for words, there never is when it’s like this, when they can read each other like actors can go over memorised speeches. They know every patch of skin and how to extract every moan, plea and whimper in every way.
Noel’s lips grace over his chest as Julian reaches for the small bottle that’s always kept in the second draw of the left bedside cabinet. Noel’s lips trail over every possible part of Julian’s chest as he squeezes out the clear gel and slicks himself in slow gentle strokes.
Noel lifts his hips slightly and tries to urge Julian on but he just lies above him, looking down on him like there’s nothing sweeter in the entire world. Noel loves that look. Carefully Julian’s hand traces down his side and circles his entrance. Noel stills his hand and Julian speaks for the first time since they moved into Noel’s room
“Don’t you need me to...?” Julian trails off unsure of how to make the right words leave his mouth
“No, I’m used to you now. Please Ju...”
Julian looks into his eyes and takes that as his que. Slowly he pushes into Noel, inching his way in, allowing him to stretch around him. It kills Julian to hold back like this but he knows he has to and he doesn’t want to hurt Noel. After what seems like hours Noel finally nods and Julian shifts himself and tries to keep a slow steady pace.
Noel loved to feel Julian’s weight above him. It was warm and solid and comforting, he was after all the one thing that had never changed in Noel’s life and for that much because for what they had when they came together like this to change would kill Noel. It would eventually break down Julian too, he needed Noel. They both needed each other.
Their moans and whispered mumbles reverberated around the room and connected in waves in the air. The rest of the world seemed to fade in and out like far lights flickering in darkness but it didn’t matter because tonight they both shone in a magical invisible glow. Breath appeared hotter and muted and colours faded and swirled until they closed their eyes to darkness.
Gradually the heat passed from their breath and pooled in their stomachs. They didn’t need to speak to know exactly how the other felt, they knew too well now. Words slurred and jumbled together until white noise washed over both of them and neither of them is sure who’s following whom and just that it’s happening.
After Noel settles into his normal position in Julian’s arms with his head resting against the pillow there would have been a comfortable silence if it weren’t for the police sirens and dogs barking occasionally outside. Little by little their conscious minds ebb away into post-coital slumber.
“Ju?”
“Mmh?” Noel nuzzles in further at the low hum confirming Julian’s still awake mind
“Did... did we just...” Noel stops slightly, embarrassed by his own words “make love?”
Julian smiles but stops himself from laughing, he’s always loved how Noel got all vulnerable sometimes, he found it endearing. As Julian thought about it the more he convinced himself that whatever happen when they were drawn together like that was them actually making love; at least that’s what it felt like.
Julian kisses the top of Noel’s now mussed and deflated hair and smiles
“Yeah. Yeah we did.” Noel smiles at that, leaning his head up so he can whisper in Julian’s ear like a small child
“I love it when you make love to me” Julian turns and catches his lips then, no longer able to hold back from the one raven haired boy who somehow managed to screw up his life and make it complete all in one motion.
“I love it that you let me” Julian holds him closer, almost refusing to let him go
“Always”
Julian can hear it echo in his head, he can feel it engraved into his skin like a tattoo that could never be removed but most importantly he can feel his words imprint themselves in his heart.
“My Cathy” Julian teases him lightly
“Only if you’re Heathcliff and you pick me up in your arms, kiss me and take me away where no one else is” he’s yawning and they both know that sleep is returning for them and this time it won’t be halted by conversation but his eyes still shine brightly even as they glaze and his eyelids flicker shut.
He kisses his head; it’s easier than trying to tell him all the thoughts running through his mind like the Grand Prix. He waits until he’s sure Noel’s asleep before he finally lets sleep take him too.
Julian isn’t a soppy romantic but sometimes he’ll make exceptions, like for Noel; his beautiful lady in red.
