Fandom: The Mighty Boosh
Characters: Howard, Vince, the Moon
Word Count: 200

Warnings: More fluffiness.
Notes: For Challenge 17, Holidays. Another of the Japan stories, this time set during Tsukimi, the autumn moon-viewing festival. This story finally hints (a bit?) at why Howard and Vince keep going to Japan: Naboo has a lady friend there. :)

"What're you doin', Howard?" Vince poked his head over Howard's shoulder, one hand resting on his back. A cool autumn breeze ruffled his hair, strands of it tickling Howard's ear. He shuddered.

"I'm writing a poem."

"Oh, Howard. I thought you'd given that up."

"Just because I stopped sharing my work, Vince, doesn't mean I stopped pursuing my dreams! Anyway, it's traditional."

"What?"

"Writing a poem about the moon, for the moon-viewing festival! Naboo's friend told us so."

"Oh yeah, Naboo's friend." Vince waggled his eyebrows suggestively and then neatly plucked a dango from the bamboo skewer he was holding. "Anyway, this poem of yours, I hope there's no cream in it."

"Don't be silly. My cream phase is over. This is an epic about the man in the moon."

"Man? It's supposed to be a rabbit!"

"Pardon?"

"There's a rabbit in the moon. That's what they said on the telly. It was on Tokudane!."

"How d'you know what they're saying?"

"I'm pickin' up Japanese. I'm like Mowgli in hakama."

"Listen, I'll prove it. Hey, Moon! Are you a man, or a rabbit?"

The Moon blinked. "I don't know. What's it feel like to be a rabbit?"

"... Never mind."

--

Dango are mochi/red bean paste dumplings served on a skewer. They're traditionally eaten at Tsukimi. Sometimes they have little rabbbits painted on them. :P

Tokudane! is a Japanese morning news program.

Hakama are a type of traditional, wide-legged trousers.

And here's the story with the Moon Rabbit.
