 Title: Counting on that
Word count: 200
Pairing: Howard/Vince

Disclaimer: Nothing recognisable belongs to me.
AN: I wrote this after the challenge was posted, but i've been a lazy bum this time around and never posted. Thanks to thirstyrobot who allowed me to post mine even though she's already posted an entry with the same idea. Luckily for me this is from Vince's POV, otherwise my tantrum would have been epic. Anyway, i think this challenge was just calling out for a calling out on the boys inconsistencies, ah well, makes for good reading, :D

His memory is a strange thing.

He doesn’t like looking back most days; it always changes when he tries.

Some days he’s lived in a lighthouse, he’s flown helicopters and swam in a porpoise derby. He's fought yeti's and monsters and bad hair.

He’s been on a million adventures in far-away places and strange new planets and some days he’s worked in a shop for years and years and never left.

He's bartered in flutes and in imaginary money. He's been spat on in Spain and enamoured in the Arctic. He's been idolised and criticised and he's fallen further than he'd ever think to fall.

Some days he’s slept on the floor of a zoo and others in a cave of Mick Jagger posters and fuchsia curtains.

He’s had red hair and blond hair and brown, and some days he can’t remember never having black hanging in his eyes.

Some days he’s been a million things for a million people.

But the only constant thing when he closes his eyes and looks back are the tiny brown eyes looking back at him.

And no matter where he is or what else has changed, he knows he can count on that.
