Today's note: a giant pine tree with all its branches on just one side really, really does not want to fall in the other direction. Leverage, and all that rot.
So when it falls where you do not want it to, move the hell out of the way fast. Avoiding the trunk is the easy part, but do remember it has branches.
On the plus side, the cost to repair the fence it broke is still less than the cost we were quoted to have it taken down professionally. So we saved money. And got our daily dose of adrenalin.
Very, very glad one of us had the foresight/nervousness to move the trailer (hint: it wasn't me).
Oh, and I got to drive mid-size excavator around all weekend before that. Yar! Want. One. It had a hydraulic thumb, which was just awesome. "I'm squishing your head!"
