After a combined 29 hours of driving, I have returned to Michigan.
Katie and I had a fantastic adventure this past weekend. We had a long drive to North Carolina but we made it just fine. Let's just say traffic is horrible around Charlotte. The cool thing is that they have a car pool lane to avoid big back ups.
Our first full day began at Cabarrus County's Teacher Interview Day. We all had to do a timed writing questionnaire. I did a decent one on why technology is vital in the classroom. My meeting did not go as well as I hoped since I was really nervous. I managed ok though without too much embarrassment. Just enough practice to nail the next days interview.
The area is lovely! All the trees are blooming and even though it was cold, it was still sunny and nice. We looked at a lot of subdivisions and housing communities and couldn't find any that we particularly loved. We did however find our apartment complex that we've been considering to move to (which most likely will be the case). But we're going back in a month to meet with a realtor and see more homes in our price range.
On todays interview, I was nervous but I managed. We met with the principal and vice principal of Weddington Middle School. They are both really nice people. I answered all their questions and gave great examples in my portfolio. Katie naturally nailed hers. So they told us to come back and see them at their county's job fair. They also said NOT to sign any contracts with any other schools since they are sure that we'll be working for them. THANK GOD! But I'm going to err on the cautious side. So I'll announce that I'm pretty sure that I have the job. I'm not sure which grade or area I'll teach but I'm pretty positive.
All in all it was a good trip and a great chance to see the area. I can't wait to go back!
