Futbol?
I don't understand...
Today the World Cup ended and I guess I was suppose to watch it??? For the longest time I have defended Soccer or Futbol as the natives call it,(natives meaning soccer hooligans), and would argue with people that it's a great sport. Granted, I still feel the same way, soccer is a fun sport, to play. As a spectator sport, I cannot stand it. The field is too big, offsides makes the game slow e r, and the players flop over everything. A flop is faking a person is hurt just to gain the obvious advantage over the team. I witnessed one player be rushed off the field after his toe was stepped on, literally. Also the card system? This reminds me of 3rd grade when I would be put on yellow, meaning I am treading on thin ice, and then red meant my parents got called. Also the games are decided my a little guessing game. The teams can never finish the 1-1 tie game in the 30 minute OT, so it usually goes to a shoot out, where the game is literally decided on if the goalie guesses the right side to defend. The sports media has the audacity to tell me that I am suppose to like soccer? Give me a break, this sport is over hyped and maybe it's the rest of the world that should start liking newer sports where athletes run full force and when they fall they get up and finish the game.
I don't know, I like soccer, just don't insinuate that I am not cultured if I do not enjoy the game of futbol.
