I don't think I'd find it half as skeevy if I felt that the show knew how skeevy it was. I'm all for dark and creepy, but like you said, they seem to have just stumbled on plot threads they haven't fully realised yet. Also, yes yes YES to both Dushku not being a good enough actress, and that irritating British woman. Gah, why are female Brits on American television always so annoying? Dushku was only really good as Faith - the whole Echo wandering around pouting thing is doing absolutely zero for me. And the doll that killed the kidnappers at the end of episode one - Sierra, I think? Totally came off as a Cameron from TSCC clone. If only the show had some of the Whedon humour we all expect to find, it wouldn't be half as bad. The mind-wiping guy's dialogue just comes off irritating and out of place without any of the other characters having unique speech patterns.

I do fucking love Matt Keeslar, though.

He is very very pretty, and definitely hits my quirky nice guy kink in The Middleman. Of course, they had me at Wendy mentioning Powers and The Spirit among her favourite comics. ♥ I also seriously want her jacket.

YES. What is with the way Dushku walks as Echo?? She, like, weirdly sticks out her ass and walks leaned back or something. It's way too slinky and bizarrely seductive for someone who A) is supposed to have no personality and B) is often a programmable hooker. AHHH.

"Quirky nice guy kink" is the exact right way to describe it!! I obviously have the same thing with my Superman crush, etc., etc., and the Middleman pinged that SO HARD (milk in a flask!!). Right down to Ida repeatedly calling him The Big Green Cheese, because EEEEEEEEE. Man, that show is such geek porn.
