obligatory black history month shout out...
Has anyone seen this campaign to make it "black history year"? I don't understand... Wouldn't it be just as effective to go for a "Eradicate the need to denote one month as a time to focus on black history and just let it fall under the umbrella of history" campaign?
I mean, true, there is still a major discrepancy between the amount of time and focus on the achievements of blacks/africans in history, but to put it in this box of "black" history, inadvertently, separates it from "history", and, consequently, gives it a different value. Which, in reality, is a shame, black history isn't just black history, its everyone's history. However, it won't be viewed as such as long as there's safety gloves for how its dealt...
