Vivid Con rec list so far (mostly Club Vivid because that's where my vidding heart lies):
That's Not My Name by
talitha78 (Smallville): So fabulous!!!!! I can't even begin to express how much I love this vid. It's an incredibly fun song to explore all of the sides/names of Clark vs. Superman with: "Clark and his identity issues. Seasons 1-8."
No Heaven by
millylicious (Supernatural): Totally amazing (and danceable! I love Club Vivid!). An unflinching look at the ongoing Winchester family revenge-tragedy, particularly how they create their own hell in sacrificing themselves over and over to save each other.
I'm Not Dead by
dualbunny (Battlestar Galactica): A perfect and fitting third piece in her P!nk=Starbuck vidding trilogy, drawing on the poignancy, pain and power of season 4 Kara--a little crazier, wearing her vulnerability on her sleeve, but just as badass and powerful as always.
Start the Commotion by
danegen (Leverage): Geek power, baby! I <3 Hardison so hard!!!
Thriller by
buffyann (Buffy-verse/Supernatural): So perfectly creepy and cracky! I love the idea of the Sweet demon as the narrator.
Can Delight by
jescaflowne (multi): Super-heroine cheerleaders who kill demons and kick ass FTW!!!
And a few other recent gems:
It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine) by
deirdre-c (Supernatural): Fabulous season 4 recap. The perfect combination of hilarious and painful/poignant with IMPECCABLE beatwork and internal movement.
A Charming Man by
giandujakiss (Supernatural): OMG I love this song/artist now! And this is an amazing video. I love the unconventional song choice, and how the vidder crafted such a complex interesting vid with that fast beat and dark tone. It will take several rewatchings to unpack and absorb all the phenomenal visual metaphors and parallels.
Sunburn by
obsessive24 (Twilight): An Edward/Bella vid. The movement/editing is spectacular. The distortion effect was very disorienting and combined with the chaos/climax of the bridge it had a dual effect of representing canon honestly while highlighting the creepiness of the predator/prey and stalker!Edward aspects.
There is also the matter of my inexpressible SQUEE to discover that
Acceptable in the Eighties was played at
Club Vivid this year. That pretty much made my decade :)
