A couple of days ago, I drew up a proposal of what I wanted to do in regards to Spare Story rules based on all of your feedback, and then the other maintainers and I discussed them and made some tweaks. They are now ready to go and will be implemented at the start of Rose's turn. Here's what is being changed:
1. As far as claims go, we are not going to be differentiating between listers and non-listers anymore. Instead, people who have neither done a Spare Story nor have a claim for one are going to get priority and do not have to wait at all to put in a claim. People who have completed a Spare Story have to wait a week to put in a claim. (We are not going to bar listers who have turns coming up from claiming a spare, but if you're within three generations of your turn, we're going to discourage it.)
2. People who have uncompleted claims may not make new ones until the one they have has been finished. This was common sense before, but we're making it a rule now.
3. Because there has been more interest in Spare Stories lately and we think that timezones may become an issue, we're going to start doing a claim lottery. In the first 48 hours after spares are made available, people who want to claim a spare will submit their names to the maintainers the normal way. If there is more than one request, Lark will then pick one person at random, and that person will get the claim. After the first 48 hours, claims will be given on a "first come, first serve" basis.
4. After each generation's heir announcement, Lark will make a post stating that the spares are available to claim and reminding people how to do it. Before that post goes up, no one will be able to make a claim. Any requests made before then will be ignored.
5. The only way to make a claim is to PM all of the maintainers at Boolprop. Requests made any other way will be ignored. We will be reminding you all of this every generation, don't worry.
6. Twins can count as one claim, the same way they did before. However, it is not necessary to claim both twins.
7. We are not going to impose a deadline for finishing Spare Stories, since I feel that it is more important to focus on keeping the main line on track. However, we do ask that if you know you can't finish, to give up the claim. Lark is also going to be doing progress checks every once in a while.
8. Wait lists and lottery lists will not be made public. Requests will be private between the person requesting and the maintainers until the claim is added to the Spare Story post.
I'm going to be combining the changes with the rules already in place, and then Lark will put them in the Spare Story post for your reference. :D

Also, there has been more concrete delegating of tasks to each of the maintainers lately, so I'm going to talk to you guys about that as well so you know who to contact about various things.
As you may have guessed by the changes stated above, Lark is now going to be in charge of Spare Stories. Requests must still be sent to all of the maintainers via PM at Boolprop, but other than that, Lark is the person you go to if you have questions.
Ori is doing all of the graphics and organization work here at the comm. She's made all these lovely banners for us to use and is in charge of the table of contents, the Doran downloads, and our sticky post. If you need a link added, talk to her, and she's also said she'll do update covers for people who need them. Also, if I'm not online and an update needs to be added to the Boolprop post, ask her.
De will be inheriting the job of compiling generational recaps and the additions to the mythology.
Everything else, talk to me. I'm going to be handling list maintenance and the bulk of the communication with the current player, so if there's a problem with your position on the list, you need an extension, or you want your update added to the Boolprop post, let me know.
And seriously, don't hesitate to ask us about anything. We don't bite. (Lark's cowplant does, but we keep the gate locked. Most of the time. :D)
