Guest Rights? Frey'd Not...
I've been unable to use my gaming PC these last few days due to power issues in our house, so I decided to have a go at installing the basegame on my laptop. I thought it would be nice to be able to take the game with me when I go away from home and have little to do. So I installed, patched, collected a few mods I really wanted and grabbed myself a set of default skins and eyes and loaded up the game...
GREAT GREEN PLUMBOB IN THE SKY. How on earth did I ever manage to play basegame, CC-free for all that time, all those years ago?!
Having been playing with all the EPs for so long, I forget how much I depend on features that were added later. Not only that but I could NOT believe how empty the BG buy/build mode catalogues are. I didn't remember them being so sparse.
It's also incredibly difficult trying to play the game with a mousepad. I was struggling to remember how to angle the camera without my trusty scroll wheel. The game did run very smoothly and quickly on my laptop though, so I was very pleased with that.
All in all, it was a fun trip down memory lane, but I'll be glad to be able to use my PC again!
In other news, I just watched the latest Game of Thrones... Just gonna go lie down in this dark room and weep quietly for a bit...
