i always plan to post more often, but then i let the days go by and end up posting a bunch of stuff at once, maybe it's better, maybe not, i don't know.
i have almost all of my parts for my bike, the only thing really missing is my backordered handlebars. but despite that, i decided to finish putting it together today using my old handlebars, which are the same, just a different color (new ones are black). after getting everything on and cabled i was very excited, and took it out for a short parking lot ride. it is great! it still needs some shifter and brake adjustment, but it was so nice to ride, the suspension was really nice, far better than my old one. maybe this weekend i will finish tuning it, then all i have to do is swap the new handlebar in when it comes and it will be done! i almost can't believe how nice it felt on the first shot of putting it together. building it was a fun experience.
i've been working for rutgers for almost two weeks now. i'm on MSSG's (microcomputer support services group) web team, and they have started me on a small project already. i'm slightly nervous about it, as it's been a while sonce i've programmed in php, it's my first time using php's object support, and it's my first time programming for money. at first i felt like i had to get what they told me to get done quickly, but it seems that this project is not on a tight deadline. i have to remind myself to take it easy and code slowly and well, and think about what to do before getting into it. i think that was my problem when i started coding this week. i just have to take it easy.
i have gone snowboarding more, i went a few more times to mountain creek, and have been picking it up well, i have no problem with blue trails now, i'm still not as fast as i was on skis, but i find the board more fun. i went with my brother to camelback last weekend (he skiid, i snowboarded), and it went well, i rode their double blue there with no problem. i tried a black, but it was steep and all ice, so that was not fun. i had two rather large falls which i am surprised i did not get hurt on. i was actually completely in the air and landed on my shoulder on one of them. after that i got more nervous and slowed down a bit, what with the lacking health insurance and all. i can really do without something broken.
i also started playing with linux again. after i got my mac i kind of let it fall by the wayside, but i reinstalled gentoo (a lot changed there, wow), and am slowly setting stuff up and learning more (udev is a fun one). i figure i'll use the mac for mostly photo work, and go back to using linux for programming and other stuff.
well, hope that didn't bore too many people. ryan, we going to mountain creek saturday? are we going for their 3:00 twilight time?
