Earlier this week, I went on for a really long time about my feelings on the conclusion of the series. One of the things that I had issues with was addressed by JK Rowling on the Today Show yesterday.
According to Rowling, she originally wrote a more detailed epilogue that gave all the information people have been wondering about. When she finished, she felt that it was too choppy and so pruned it back to its current (sugary) state. One of the kids in the interview asked what jobs the Trio went on to have. According to Rowling, Harry and Ron went on to be VERY SUCCESSFUL aurors (yay!) and Hermione was an upper-level employee in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.
She also went on to say, to my absolute elation, that she had written about the wizarding world, but was done with that and needed to leave that part of her life behind. She didn't go on to say what she was working on - probably nothing right now whil she rests up - but I hope she sticks to that.
