An inkling of suspicion hovered on the edge of her mind when the first woman reappeared, and swept Nicola off in her wake. The next thing she knew she was standing on the edge of the stage, listening with growing horror, while a voice announced loudly to grand applause ‘Lawrence Marlow, This Is Your Life’.
