I don't think I'd ever realised quite how much I've come to depend on instant media until yesterday. I was in Birmingham (geeking nicely at a Catalist [1] Users day) when someone made a comment about Melanie's husband having to pick her up because of the bomb.

Bomb?

Bombs in London.

Oh.

I then had to sit through an afternoon not knowing what scale we were talking about, and which parts were affected. Which was scary and frustrating, although nothing compared to what it must have been like in London.

So, not knowing what was happening, I sent texts to my friends there, which must have been vastly irritating because they were probably being deluged with messages from people all over the country. Apologies to all.

I keep thinking of the people who were in the queue in front of me at Cambridge station at 7.30 that morning, who would have arrived in King's Cross at 8.30.

I'm glad that you are all safe, and I weep for those who are not.
