I am now up to date with BSG (first three of season 4). I am so glad I wasn't spoiled because
Oh. My. Goodness. I never imagined that (ending of three) happening.
So, vague thoughts, mostly on The Ties that Bind (because that was the one that meant I barely slept last night). I didn't recognise Cally at first. She seemed a lot older than the last time we saw her, and years away from the babymechanic in the miniseries and season one. I really liked Cally before New Caprica, and in parts of three (contraversial, I know), and a couple of times during the episode I thought that she was going to make an interesting character this season.
The ending blew me away. As indeed it did Cally. Have I not always said Tory was evil? Completely didn't expect that. Nor the thunking the Chief with the spanner. And ProperCylonPunchTory - yikes.
Lee and Kara - I love our pilots, and the kiss in the second episode was full of love and desperation, and it felt fairly final to me. She seems so lost, empty and distant. I do miss the HappyPilots. I enjoyed the Lee Adama goodbye party, although it surprised me. I'd always imagined the other pilots would be angry he was leaving. Not sure why. The Lee/Dualla parting seemed another finality, and rather a nice way to finish that storyline.
I loved Adama reading pulp crimefic to Laura Roslin while she had chemo. It was so very natural; he was helping her the only way he could.
The seven Cylons? Not so fussed really. Baltar? Ditto. Apart from when Baltar got his own HeadBaltar. That was hilarious.
I could write more, but I am sleep deprived. This is what happens when you are up late and then watch a programme with a shock ending. And then cannot get to sleep until TWO THIRTY. Can't wait to see more.
