DAMN IT! (aka If it ain't broke, don't fix it)
I'm ranting because I'm so mad I can't sleep. This is more of a release for me than it is for your reading pleasure.
**Major spoilers for the back half of SGA season three and the season four cast changes.**
Note: please excuse any language during the following; I was alone all day with a certain person the other day and we kinda let ourselves go. ^_^ (Plus, I'm really pissed.)
Okay, so "Sunday" was well on its way to becoming one of my favorite episodes. I mean, I was REALLY enjoying it(except that they were hinting at and slamming certain ships, which is way uncool). Now, I knew that Carson wasn't going to be in season four, but I had heard that he was supposed to "disappear" or something! And then they frickin' killed him. It was kind of ironic, though; me and Sache8 had just been saying how much they needed a scene with John in his dress blues. :P Yeah, well, screw John in dress blues(even though he looked absolutely gorgeous), I want Carson back! Why the hell would you write out one of the show's most lovable characters?! I mean, if leaving the show was a choice made by Paul, I guess I should respect that, but if it was just the writers... *shoots them*
Which brings me to another subject. What is all this shstuff about Torri only being a recurring character in season four? Hello! Weir RUNS the expedition! I mean, I realize that she hasn't been in every single ep, but then neither have any of the other characters except John and Rodney. I don't even like Elizabeth that much, but she does bring a certain something to the show...
But those two things aren't even what pisses me off the most. Amanda Tapping is supposed to be in fourteen episodes of season four as an effing "regular." I have nothing against Amanda and I think she is a fantastic actress, but allow me to scream this just this once. YOU HAD YOUR SHOW, WOMAN! YOU HAD YOUR SHOW FOR TEN FREAKING YEARS! I realize that this is all being done because she has to finish out her contract, but if she takes away any screentime from the REAL cast, I will be VERY pissed. Also, with Sam around, Rodney's interaction with, well probably with everyone is going to be different! I kinda like the slightly McKay/Weir direction that some of the eps have hinted at. But it won't be like that with Carter there... *sigh of despair*
What do the writers hope to gain by making such drastic changes? My mother made the comment that it's their show. Umm, I disagree. They write the show and WE watch it. If WE don't like it, WE don't watch it. If WE don't watch it, THEIR ratings drop and THEIR sorry little show gets cancelled. They already made a BIG mistake with "Irresponsible"(don't EVEN get me started), and if things don't start going back uphill soon, I may stop watching and just stick to fic. Who am I kidding? I watch the show for John and Rodney. Wait, not like ♥John & Rodney ♥, I just like the two characters. So...if they kill off one of them, THEN I might stop watching. Anyways...
