why not

So what if i haven't written an entry in months and there's all this meaningful stuff I could have, and wanted to blog about...I'm here just for a meme, now.
Ten things I've done that you probably haven't, in no particular order whatsoever.
(and TGIF! and TGIAlmostSpring, too!)

1. Flirted with Venetian gondolier, got free gondola ride down the Grand Canal.
2. Got 2nd degree sunburn (complete with 3" diameter blister on my cheek - ow!) on the Galapagos islands.
3. Trespassed barefooted (and bare-ankled!) in broad daylight, along with several other giggly excited women, across a (deserted) section of the beach that was designated 'males only' in the isle of Keish, Iran (on the way to the 'female' beach, strictly as a shortcut).
4. Underwent training and the paperwork process to become certified as a foster parent...and got my first placement call the same day, in fact within a couple of hours.
5. Held a raging then-9 year old as she screamed bloody murder, scratching and kicking me, and swearing she wanted to die, before driving her to the ER to see the on-call counselor :(
6. Chased same then-9 year old down the block, a couple months later one Friday after midnight, barefoot and in her pj's, before energetically escorting her into the car and back to said ER and counselor.
7. Went to see Mikhail Gorbachov speak at my University in Mexico City in the early 90's, and on the way back home (before I'd put on my seatbelt after stopping at a friend's house to drop something off) got hit by a drunk driver driving on the wrong side of the road, which ended me up in an ambulance with a sprained finger and ankle, a bloody cut and multiple bruises on the side of my head/face that hit the steering wheel/knocked out the rearview mirror/smashed the windshield...three days before finals week (!)
8. Snorkeled in Xel-Ha, Yucatan, as a kid, alongside my dad, among schools of colorful tropical fish, and loved it. Meanwhile, my mother watched us from the shore, fretting and hating the entire experience (I wasn't a great swimmer and apparently we took off pretty far, and it was deep).
9. Parasailed in Ixtapa, (three times in four days! I was hooked!), during a trip with my parents in my early twenties. Loved it SO much that I actually talked my mother into trying it! She of course, spent the entire time staring crosseyed at the hook that pulled her harness, fretting and hating the entire experience.
10. The summer after my divorce, bought myself a tent (my ex hated the idea) went camping by myself on the beach (and had a great time) and, at the gas station where I stopped on my way back home, picked up the last free kitten from a cardboard box, along with a can of free cat food.
