wow. I am shocked and entertained by the fact that your birds masturbate.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I feel when I see them doing it. The first time I kept looking away, looking back, thinking, "she's not doing what I think she's doing..."

my cat sometimes tries to "entice" the bathroom door - and she's fixed!

First visit my bird vet told me to expect really precocious toddlers, when I asked how creative or smart they'd be. That's pretty much what I've gotten!

Oh dear. :} Your lovebirds are much bigger handfuls than my parakeets ever were. :D

Mutual birdy masturbation, huh? Not sure what I think of that one ...

My mom's had a single male lovebird for years now, and he's never seemed particularly depressed, apart from right after his mate died of a heart attack after escaping their cage. Can't say I ever saw either of them masturbate, but I suppose they didn't really need to.

You'll have to watch him carefully to see if he's overly "fond" of a particular toy now that his mate is gone. :)

He does keep breaking his plastic balls with bells in them. But I'm not sure how much I wanna think about this ...
