This hasn't been a great morning - overslept, way too tired, blah blah blah. And to top it all off, I've got a lyrics earwig from my dreams that is driving me crazy. I get in to work, type the lyrics into trusty Google and eventually find this site:
www.yelp.com/topic/san-francisco-what-is-your-saddest-song Wherein I am vastly entertained by songs considered sad by some of the posters - let's discuss.
Are You Lonesome Tonight? - Elvis Presley
My Funny Valentine - Chaka Khan
Love Lift Us Up Where We Belong - Joe Cocker
Fix You - Coldplay
Coat of Many Colors - Dolly Parton
I will certainly accept that some songs become sad due to association; I have plenty of songs that wouldn't be utterly crushing for folks who aren't me. And yes, the title of the thread is "What is YOUR saddest song", but without context a lot of these tunes are so bizarre. None of the above are actually sad songs… do people listen to lyrics??? Feh. I am done with them. Except to say the winning song of most absurd in this context is….. "Hurt" by NIN. WTF?
I spent much of my weekend watching most of the festvids on a loop and it was exxxxxceeeelllent. So many brilliant ones I can't even rec them individually. They're just a gathering of goodness that made me stupidly happy. *channeling 5-year-old* DO IT AGAIN! DO IT AGAIN!
