(no subject)
Des Moines totally sucked majorly, supporter housing was a nightmare and I just wanted to go home. I told them they should never ever again use that supporter housing, it was SO BAD. I asked to go to Ames (since I have a friend there) but they sent me to Indianola instead, but I got a ride with a really sweet lady who's originally from Santa Monica and she gave me her phone number in case it gets bad again.
The Indianola office is pretty sweet. There's three guys and a girl and me (the only volunteer) and everyone's really friendly. Indianola has a different definition of "potato skins" but unlike Des Moines people the Indianola folks asked me what I wanted to eat. :) The Des Moines office got a bunch of pizza from the Steelworkers Union but volunteers had to sneak out to get it, even though there were 17 pizzas.
I'm staying in this very awesome housing with this super sweet older lady who's letting me use a spare room which has comfortable sheets and is really cozy. She made breakfast this morning and gave me a hug last night and is so incredibly nice. And did I mention incredibly nice?
I'm going to Waterloo on Christmas Day, but for now I'm content and safe which is two things I never felt in Des Moines :)
