UA Jazz Ensemble Concert Set

The University of Arkansas Jazz Ensemble under the direction of James Greeson, will perform a Fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, featuring the 18-piece big band playing music by Duke Ellington, Quincy Jones, Gordon Goodwin, and Charlie Parker. Jazz pianist Claudia Burson will also be featured on a few compositions along with Greeson on jazz guitar and UA students Garrett Jones and C.J. Weatherford. The music selections will cover a broad time span, going back to the original orchestration of Duke Ellington's "Don't Get Around Much Anymore" that has been "rediscovered" by the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, and extending forward to exciting new compositions like Gordon Goodwin's "Sing, Sang, Sung" which is a high energy homage to a Benny Goodman hit from the 1930's. The concert will be held in the University of Arkansas' Arkansas Union Theater. There is no admission charge and the concert is open to the public.
