Tuuuuruuuu! Tuuuuruuuu!
In a fit of geekery, I rented the entire original Jonny Quest series, and have been systematically chugging my way through it. I remember renting some of the episodes and watching them with Dad when we lived in Saudi (based on those viewings, Turu the Terrible has evolved into a running family joke), but I've never actually seen the whole thing all the way through, so it's fun to watch all of it, finally.
Watching it now, though, I see that Jonny Quest is seriously THE MOST WRONG SHOW EVER. Granted, I'm sure its use of global cultures and diversity was cutting-edge back in the 1960s, but now? So horrible (and yet so deliciously good). I should be offended, but it's actually hilarious.
Plus, Race Bannon and Dr. Quest seriously have something going on. There's only so many meaningful glances they can give one another before it all collapses under a rainbow-colored avalanche of fabulousness and mansex. NEITHER OF YOU CAN RESIST IT FOREVER!
Now, back to my regularly scheduled program of racist stereotypes and the love that dare not speak its name (I'm watching you, Bannon and Quest...)
