Obi-Wan Kenobi
My first real fandom obsession, I'd have to say. I just woke up one day and fell head-over-heels in love with him and haven't looked back. I once read in an astrology thing that my star sign, Gemini, tend to look for people who can keep up with them. He's one of the few people, fiction-wise, that I can't fluster. He's compassionate and gentle when I'm having a bad day, he can take it when I snark at him. *shrugs* What more does a girl need?
The Joker
To me, he's more of a fascinating character study/boogyman then anything else. I'm not a fangirl, sorry. But he's interesting. I have a character who I won't elaborate on now that has a very interesting relationship with him. She's not a villain herself, so she does fight and try to kill him. But for various reasons, she's a little nuts herself. And when they encounter each other, they develop a peculiar sort of friendship; there's a level on which he is the only one who understands her. So while they'd each kill the other given half a chance, they really enjoy each other's company. I'm not sure where I'm going with this, but the point is that I find him a really fascinating and frightening villain that, when done correctly, can really make an amazing story.
Iron Man
If I hadn't already met Obi Wan when I'd seen this movie, Stark would have been my muse. Again, relate to the character I won't elaborate on just yet; I have her in a serious relationship with Obi Wan when she meets Tony, and he's in love with Pepper. There's a serious undertone in their meeting that if they'd met sooner, they definitely would have gone out. They both realize, however, that it would never have worked out. So there's a strong friendship there. Long story short, I adored the movie, look forward to the rest of them, and think Tony is made of win. I am seriously tempted to write a crackfic where he meets Superman just to see Clark's head explode.
The Illusionist
First of all, let me say that I have the utmost respect for the movie The Prestige and everyone involved in it. I am NOT trying to insult it, anyone involved, or anyone who enjoyed it. That being said, this was the movie I wanted the Prestige to be. At the end of the Prestige, when everything was revealed, I felt like the characters had cheated. It was personally very unsatisfying. IMHO, the whole thing kinda turned into a pointless whiney bitch-fight. The Illusionist, however, was much more satisfying. The quest (for lack of a better term) of this movie seemed much more interesting. Yes, it was mostly because he loved what's-her-name. But he was taking down a corrupt and bad Crown Prince. And at the end of the movie, when all was revealed, I had essentially the same reaction as the cop; stunned and very much impressed. And I LIKED the cop! He was corrupt, yes. But despite that, he was a good but tired man trying to do his job. Even though he was being paid by the Prince, that didn't stop him from seeking out justice when he thought the Prince was.... well, I'll stop there. Don't want to give spoilers away. At risk of sounding vain, I've gotten pretty good at guessing endings of movies over the years, and when a movie fools me, I enjoy the experience thoroughly. The Illusionist completely had me, and I loved it from start to finish.
