So,so,so, I've been very lucky in thelast two years to have read quite a few outsaning series, mostly thanks to you guys. So, this is just a post t talk aout books, particularly those aforementioned series
( Read more... )
Okay, so about Hadrian's love interest, I'm going to make a wild guess and say it's going to be Arista. I just have this feeling because she threw such a big hissy fit over being married off to some noble man, so I got the feeling they're not exactly her type. Plus, the fact that she knows magic may be of great help to Hadrian and co., so I'm guessing I'll see more of her in the future. A future that would probably involve her falling in love? Lol.
Books describes Hadrian as a great big puppy dog. I don’t think that qualifies as noble characteristics! But what would Alric think? (Well, there is this one point where Hadrian has to pretend to be noble … *He’s terrible at it!*)
What do you think of Royce? I think he’s got a heart hidden somewhere, but it’s been hardened out of him (in one of the later books, you learn more of Royce’s history, and you feel so sorry for him) And definitely the last books makes your heart break for him.
And be careful when Books points out that it’s someone you know. If there was a passing reference, Books will claim you “met” them and have you racking your brain for who they are. She was very mean to me about the last book, since I had to wait so long to read it …. *The point of that statement is to tell you to keep your eyes wide open when meeting new people* grins wickedly!
Oh, I just meant to say that I don't think Arista likes the noblemen type, so I thought she'd be more likely to fall for our tough rogue here. And I get the feeling Alric would totally approve, because he just loves his "royal protectors". Hahaha! Well, that's a total guess on my part, but yeah, Alric's warming up on me
( ... )
Gald to hear Alric's warming up on you. He's not a bad sort, just *very* over pompous! Well, without giving too much away, you have a very interesting line of thought on Arista's future .... *grins wickedly as she hides spoilers
( ... )
Hmm.... well, Sauly's betraying her, I think. I think Esrahaddon is a good guy and these priests are the bad guys, bluntly put. =P
Oh, is it Thrace? Right now I feel very sympathetic towards her. Her dad's a jerk. She just got back home from a very dangerous journey and he treats her as if she's burden. Such a bad way to treat the only member of his family left.
My conjecture is that he's part elf. Since elves are mistreated, he gets very defensive about it. I do get the vibe that he cares about Hadrian, since he goes along with him even though Hadrian impulsively dives into things that are remotely noble. ^^ And of course he cares a lot about Gwen.
Oh, so it's not a love interest after all? Okay, I was about to joke that he ends up with Millie, the only other "she" I could think of. Haha, Hadrian and Millie forever alone, like Kavi and Duckie. =P
Wow!! :) You have a lot of good theories going on there! Yeah, you've got to feel sorry for Thrace, and I hate to say it, but it's going to get worse before it gets better for her....
Royce is unshakably loyal once you gain his trust. Dangerously so, at times. But it's buried deep inside.
And this person I'm thinking of is not a love interest of anybody, but she will play a big role in saving the world at the end of the series. Well, you should see all the times Hadrian looses Millie! And Kavi's going to marry Hama, so he won't be alone with Duckie forever!
OMG, I just read the part where Hadrian was trying to give Thrace's dad a "lesson", and her dad was just like, "I lost everyone who *mattered*". UGH. If he loses Thrace I hope he tears his heart out with guilt.
Lol, and then I read that part where Royce and Hadrian were talking about half-empty, half-full cups, and Hadrian teased Royce that his cup has always been empty. XD If I wasn't on the bus, I would have been laughing out loud.
Oh I see! Yay, finally, a female main character! Oh yes, I forgot about Hama!! Ah well, I guess I'll see about Hadrian. =D
*Edit* Actually, I looked at the glossary of names at the back of the omnibus and noticed a few more girls who completely slipped off my mind. There's Lenare Pickering, and I think Hadrian was sort of checking her out in the first book, so she's a possibility too.
Yeah, Thrace's dad doesn't deserve her. Period. She shouldn't have come back, she should have just started a new life someplace else. In the long run, she would have been happier. Much happier.
The Royce and Hadrian banter is one of the fun parts of the books. They play off each other like Eli and Josef. Though Hadrian is generally jolly, and Royce is much harsher than Josef.
Oh, and if Hadrian gets any ideas about Lenare Pickering, he should be even more worried about her father than Rob is about Peri!
Hah, you know what's so funny? I just read the part where Thrace almost dies and her father said he felt as if his heart's being ripped out of his chest, haha, so my wish came true.
Yeah, Royce is so much harsher than Josef. At least Josef is sarcastically funny and so soft around Nico.
I take it back actually, the whole Arista thing. I don't know why but I suddenly started shipping Arista/Mauvin. If she *does* end up with Hadrian, I'd be a tad disappointed.
Oh, we just feel sooo sorry for him. After his previous callous attitude.
Royce had a hard life, but he does have a softer side underneath. One you see around Gwen, and a few other people. At least, he's not as harsh. And it's a protective sort of harsh.... He's got a soft spot for Hadrian too. As the books go on, he makes decisions just to protect Hadrian in some way shape or form .... (Though they're not always in Hadrian's long term interest, I guess it's the thought that counts ....
I shall keep my mouth shut on pairing Arista off, lest I spoil who she does end up with .....
OH MY GOD!!! FANEN JUST DIED!! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I love the Pickerings! They're such adorable boys, and now one of them is dead.
Yeah, I see what you mean now about Royce. He thought it was complete suicide to stay in Dahlgren, but he stayed anyway just because Hadrian wanted to. He even gave him his sword. And while I thought Magnus was completely irritating in the first book, I think he's not so bad in this one. Still, his loyalty lies where the biggest purse does =P
Oh and Hilfred had like one paragraph of back story in this entire book, but just that one paragraph made me go all fangirly over him. Forget Mauv. I'm shipping Arista with Hilfred. Their past with the fire and the nightmares, and Arista's coldness... this is the kind of understated romance that always gets me. =D Now all I'm hoping for is for Hilfred to survive the series.
Okay, I just finished Avempartha, and I feel so bad for Thrace. I hope Arista does something to get her in a better situation, because I doubt the church has any good plans for her.
And I'm really really hoping that Hadrian is *not* the heir, because that would be quite cliched to me. I hope he's Jerish's descendant instead.
