He runs his thumb over Touya’s, down to the underside of his wrist. It’s supposed to be soothing, but it just makes Hikaru feel strange and overheated. Touya shivers and flips his palm over in Hikaru’s hand for better access. He does it like it’s the most natural thing since their Go.
This is amazing and lovely. I love that they're so close that Touya reacts naturally like that even though they aren't usually that close physically -- they haven't talked about it or done anything about it but on some level they're already together like that. And oh, that shivery moment! Your description is wonderful.
Touya makes me laugh when he pales and says formally, "I would never do anything so simplistic," as if he's horrified that Shindou would even suggest that. Hee!
“Touya,” he says, and can’t get any further for a moment.
Oh, Shindou saying "Touya" and nothing else! Thank you for reminding me how delightful it is. I do wonder how Touya feels about it though: doesn't Shindou saying his name breathlessly and seriously and passionately over and over again (over the years) ever get to him?

Hiiiiii, thank you! Shindou being constantly distracted by how sexy Touya is? this is canon. C A N O N. Or maybe that's just me, when I watch canon? Oh, dear.
i love that you loved the line about their Go because I wasn't sure about it and thought it might be too over the top, but hey, it's Hikago, I don't think any warm-fuzz we could write would begin to approach the level of warm-fuzz that is canon itself. So easy to see why I love this show. :(
I LOVE TOUYA. Sorry, just had to throw that out there.
I am sure that the reason Touya makes a habit of saying Hikaru's name as breathlessly and passionately as possible whenever he can has nothing whatsoever to do with exacting subtle revenge against Hikaru for saying his name that way, in that voice. Nothing at all, because Touya is a Very Nice Young Man. Who never ever gasps out Hikaru's name in public just to watch Hikaru go flustered and distracted.

The whole thing is excellent! The beginning is deliciously angsty, even so that I wondered if the ending would be happy and worried that my heart would break if it wouldn't be, and Shindou and Touya arguing and then making up is just perfect. It's sweet and very satisfying and not over the top at all, not least because I agree about the warm-fuzz levels in canon being completely unapproachable!
Touya is a Very Nice Young Man. Who never ever gasps out Hikaru's name in public just to watch Hikaru go flustered and distracted.
I think I'm going to just think about that for while. ♥

Thank you! I can't really justify the ridiculously angsty parts, either, haha. I actually wasn't even sure I was going to be able to justify ANY of this fic til I got to the very last line. though really if I could I'd just write them squabbling and angsting and making up over and over again through, like, eternity, because that moment when they realize that they are each other's never ever gets old to me! Ahhhh. Now I'm all warm and fuzzy myself. :(
