So I've been kind of quiet on the Hikago front because I've been busy and Hikago fandom and I needed a mutual break from each other, by order of many months--but Hikaru no Go is still the ruler of my heart forever, and today is MAY FIFTH!!!!

The first match between Akira and Hikaru (really between Akira and Sai). Here is where the story truly begins. The link between the past and the future. The love - between Sai and Hikaru, between Akira and Hikaru, Hikaru's love for the game.
The Internet game between zelda and S a i, when Waya is introduced. I love Waya so much, and I love the summer atmosphere of this scene. The wind chimes. Waya with the fan, dreamily.
Hikaru's shodan match. The drama! The Sai/Hikaru/Touya Meijin drama on one hand, and the drama among the spectators on the other. Kuwabara and Ogata placing bets. Waya and Ochi shaken up, wondering who Hikaru really is. Akira watching with his heart in his throat. *shiver*
The match between Isumi and Hikaru at the Shindou house, when Hikaru realises that Sai is present in his own play. I cry every time I watch this, and I love Isumi for being so perceptive, so fair-minded, so persistent, and my heart aches for Hikaru.
The first real, even match between Akira and Hikaru. I love how this has been built up - how Akira and Hikaru are kept from meeting in a real match until they're even, equal. No other comparisons between HnG and Jane Eyre *g*, but this always makes me think of Jane and Rochester, how they can't meet, truly meet, until they are equals. Jane needs experience and independence before she can be truly joined with Mr Rochester; Hikaru needs insight, skill and strength before he can play Akira, before they can be true friends, true rivals.
