*sniff* I've been wanting to do a knitting AU for ages -- the Go Institute is a big knitting magazine, Sai's the ghost of a designer who studied under Elizabeth Zimmerman, and Hikaru spends the first two volumes going WHAT. NO I AM NOT GOING TO KNIT THINGS. EVEN TO TEST YOUR PATTERNS -- but I am failfailfail at writing humour. :(

They secretly change the colours before they publish the patterns. Of course.
(I have this image in my mind of Ogata just losing it at Kuwabara because DAMMIT, YOU KNEW I WAS DOING A SHETLAND SHAWL WITH CHERRY BLOSSOMS, HDU PUBLISH ONE WITH CHRYSANTHEMUMS FIRST. And and and he knits little replicas of his fish and carries them around with him.
And Sai's tall hat thing is actually knitted and starched, not woven/felted/whatever. Of course. And he totally was just a Heian Era fanboy.)
