Irate periodical lady.
Figured I should stop lurking and actually post.
I'm Herschel, and I'm a bookstore minion; have been for almost four months. Anyway, Hi.
It's possibly just our store, but in the last two days the customers have been particularly needy and irate. A woman kept me on the phone for around 15 minutes today telling me about clothes, her friends who are pregnant, birthday presents for her daughter, and a lot of other random stuff. Then, another woman yells at me for not ordering a magazine for her (um, yes. because this is possible. we special order magazines ALL THE TIME. idiot.) and continued to berate me for selling out of a magazine that went onsale yesterday.
I don't know how it is at all your stores, but with magazines, at ours, we put it out the day we get it (and strip and send back the old ones when new issues come in). So if we get it on the 11th, it's going to go out on the 11th. If it sells out, that's not my fault, so don't belittle me and say I have poor customer service skills.*
Besides, if it's on sale today, then EVERYWHERE ELSE SHOULD HAVE IT.
Go to Borders. PLEASE.

*Also, someone needs to tell people that the months on periodicals are useless. They have no standing whatsoever. They are just some kind of trick by the publishers that I cannot explain to you while I've got a stack of 394820 other magazines that I need to put away.
