Hi All,
I'm hoping you can help me with some advice. I've recently decided that I want to change careers from Senior Account Executive with a Marketing Agency to running and owning my own bookstore here in the UK.
My plan is to get a job as a Sales Assistant with a major national chain, then work my way up the ladder and gain experience, learning everything I can about the in-and-outs of the business. Once I've raised the capital, got enough experience and found a good location for a store, I plan to take the plunge and go for it.
I know self-employment will be hard, but owning and running my own bookstore is right up there on my list of ideal jobs. I'm 28 right now, and single with no dependents, so I can afford to live hand-to-mouth for a while, but I really want to get into bookselling as a Career.
So what do you say? Does any of this sound unrealistic? Do you have any tips or advice to help me on my way?
Thanks in advance, guys!
