Just Another Night of Bookselling

The kickers tonight.
Being harassed by a woman for 20 minutes about whether or not we sold dvd's only to discover that all she wanted to do was rent them and books. The look on her face when I told her we were not a library and that you had to pay for the products was blank enough to floor even me. Topped only by the look on my face when she asked "so I can't just borrow the books?"
Sometimes I think that customers really don't hear me unless I am saying exactly what they want to hear.
And the somewhat shy and blabbering young boy who wanted me to find him books to help him with writing essays and the like as he has a hard time with language. Nice enough. I would never judge someone who wants to learn. That is until they ask me where the books on how to cheat in casino's are.
Right......All my respect just went out the window in one big swoop. Perhaps if he reads the book I showed him he'll learn how to make an honest living. =) One can only hope.
And as it comes closer to the apocalypse (also known as Harry Potter) I sift my way through call after call about whether or not we are going to be open at midnight to sell the book. And then when I tell them yes every single customer asks:
"So at 12:01 I can just waltz in and buy it?"
To which my mind replies. No...only at 12:00...as soon as 12:01 hits your f**ked. Have a nice day.
