Fred looked down at her lap for a moment, then up at Rupert. "Yeah. It's just...still hard to think about what Seidel did to me. He tried to get rid of me because he thought I was too smart and was afraid I'd show him up or something. And the really crappy thing was that I couldn't do anything about it when I did find out, no matter how badly I wanted to. He's still teaching in Los Angeles and probably doing the same thing to other students, but there's no one I can really tell because who's going to believe me? I mean, I can't exactly go to the Dean and say, 'Hey, Professor Seidel is using equations and ancient languages to send people to other dimensions and most of them have probably died there.'"
She shook her head and let out a sigh, leaning back against the head rest, the outer burroughs of London passing by in the corner of her eye.
"I know I can't dwell on it. I lived through that hell, and I'm here now, and I have my life to live. I've met you." She smiled at him. "I think meeting you is the best out of all that. And...in a way, none of this would have happened if I hadn't been sent to Pylea."
If Giles had his way, Professor Siedel wouldn’t see another day alive. From what he gathered from Fred, Siedel was one of those people who was lucky to be smart and thought their brain would get them anything they wanted. Granted, intelligence was good when plotting revenge, but the professor didn’t spend time with Ethan Rayne. The things he’d brought out in Giles could easily be used to put the final nail in Siedel’s coffin.
“Someone should do something about him,” Giles evenly said. He didn’t want Fred to hear his angry. He was good at hiding his angry and protective side, something he had to do when he came back to the Council, asking for another chance after he’d ran away from Oxford to London. But it was still there, brewing under the surface, waiting to be unleashed. And Giles had no problem unleashing it when some prat like Siedel was using his power to terrorize others.
Fred’s words stopped his train of thought and he glanced over at him. “You’re the best thing that’s happened to be also, Fred. I never want anyone to hurt you again.” He turned down a side street and pulled into a driveway. “This is it.” He got out of his car and went around to let her out. As he took her hand, he looked into her eyes. “I can take care of Professor Siedel for you.”
Fred felt her heart flutter again at Rupert's words and found herself just wanting to grab hold of him, wrap her arms around him and not let go. She restrained herself, though, since he was driving. But knowing that someone cared about her that much that he didn't want anyone to hurt her...it made her feel warm and loved despite the seriousness of the conversation and the hurt that she had suffered in the past.
When they arrived at Giles' home, Fred sat forward, looking at the neighborhood through the windshield. He was right - it was a very nice place. And given everything that had happened, she was glad they had decided to come back here for lunch. It was much more private, and she preferred that.
Climbing out of the car with Rupert's help, she straightened up, staring straight into his eyes when he offered to have Seidel dealt with. This was more than just wanting to see a murderer brought to justice - there was something burning there. He was taking this personally. He really did want to do this for her, and with the connections the Council appeared to have, she believed he could do it too.
"I want him brought to justice somehow," she told him, her voice suddenly hoarse. "Not just for me but for all the others he sent to their deaths, who were never found. For the parents who lost their children like my parents lost me for five years. I want him stopped, Rupert. He needs to be stopped."
“I’ll take care of it,” Giles promised. His mind was already churning with all the things he could do. He had Council contacts all over the world so kidnapping a lowly professor would be easy. Giles wanted to inflict most of the pain, and if it wasn’t for his morals, he’d kill the bastard but he was quite sure he could find a demon to do it for him. By the time Fred got on her plane home, Siedel would be on English soul, awaiting his fate. The professor was never going to hurt Fred again.
Giles took her hand and led her to the front door of his flat. Once the door was unlocked, he let her go in before he stepped into the front foyer. “It’s not much,” he said, shrugging off his jacket and placing it on the coat rack. He took Fred’s and did the same. And after straightening out his braces, Giles took Fred’s hand again.
“What would you like to eat?” Giles asked as he led her to the kitchen. “Sandwiches? Soup? Something more filling? I think I have some thawed beef lying around.” They stopped by the kitchen island and Giles smiled down at her. “Or I could kiss you again. Your choice.”
Fred nodded to Rupert. She wasn't sure what he meant to do to Seidel, and she didn't want to ask. All she knew was she trusted him. The sooner Seidel was dealt with, the better because of all the unsuspecting students going through his classes would never realize how dangerous showing off their smarts would be until it was too late.
"Thank you," she responded before they went into the flat, which looked to be part of a building that had once been an actual house. She looked around as he took her coat to hang up. It looked just like a place she imagined him living in. "It's lovely."
In the kitchen, she shook her head at the idea of meat - she wasn't in the mood for anything like that. "A sandwich and soup would be fine, especially with it raining out there," she told him before stepping up against him and rising up on her toes so their faces were more on level with each other. "Although, I'd very much like that kiss as well."
Giles smiled and wrapped his arms around Fred’s waist. His mouth found hers and he softly nibbled on her bottom lip before deepening the kiss. Turning them around, Giles lifted her up and placed her on the edge of the kitchen island. Once he caught his breath, he cupped her face and started to kiss her again.
His fingers traced along the sides of her long neck and down to her shoulders. Giles broke the kiss again and started to trail soft kisses along her jaw line and down her neck. He wanted to go down further; wanted to kiss every inch of her skin but he stopped himself. Instead, he moved back up to her mouth and kissed her again.
“What kind of sandwich would you like? I have ham and turkey,” he whispered. His hands ran down her sides and rested on her hips as he tried to ignore the dull ache in his trousers. “And soup. I only have what comes in cans. Chicken noodle and vegetable I believe. Or I could make something from scratch.”
Fred liked kissing Rupert. She really, really liked kissing Rupert. She liked the way his lips felt and his tongue teased hers and his hand cupped her face. In fact, she was so caught up in the kiss that she hadn't noticed he had set her up on the countertop until he broke the kiss for a second time and she realized her feet were no longer on the floor.
"Yes," she answered in response to his question about what kind of sandwich before it sank in that he hadn't asked her a yes or no question. At that moment, she just wanted him, but she knew that they should probably eat, so she forced herself to clear her head for a moment and properly answer him. "Turkey is fine...and vegetable soup sounds good. You don't have to go to any trouble for me, really."
She ran her hand up his arm to his shoulder and leaned forward to kiss him again as one leg hooked around him.
Before Giles could answer Fred, her mouth was on his again and her leg was hooked around his waist. Without thinking, his hand ran up her thigh as he deepened their kiss. Giles knew that if he didn’t stop, they would end up using the island for more than eating. But Giles didn’t want to stop. It’d been a long time since he had felt this way.
“Turkey soup and vegetable sandwiches,” he breathed when they pulled back. Something about that didn’t sound right but he didn’t care. “But first I need to finish properly snogging you.” Giles’ mouth moved down Fred’s neck again and over her collar bone. He kissed below the low collar of her shirt. His hand tangled with her hair and when he found the clip that was holding it up and unclipped her hair.
With his hand still on his thigh, Giles moved closer and gently pushed her back on the island. “So beautiful,” he whispered as the front of his trousers became tighter. Giles was about to kiss her again when he realized what was going on. He blushed and stood up. “Sorry. You wanted lunch, not me.”
Fred moaned softly into the kiss at Rupert's gentle touch on her thigh, the feel of his fingers on her skin as wonderful as his kisses. It had been so long since anything like this had happened to her. Her relationship with Charles had never progressed far enough, so her real last encounter had been while she had been at UCLA, dating one of the other doctoral candidates.
It felt so good that she didn't refuse when he declared he needed to finish snogging her. She didn't want him to finish. Who cared about turkey soup and vegetables sandwiches or turkey sandwiches and vegetable soup when she had a handsome, intelligent man kissing her this way and causing that delicious feeling of want and need and love to knot deep down inside her. Her eyes closed for a moment when his hand ran through her hair, causing her to shudder slightly.
She could feel him as he pressed closer against her, her breath hitching in her throat and her body tightening somewhat. However, when he didn't kiss her again, a small cry of disappoinment issued from her throat, and she looked up at him.
"I want you," she managed to tell him, her cheeks heating up rapidly as the want ached in her belly. "Oh, God, I don't care if I sound like...I don't know, but I want you so much."
Giles didn’t have to hear the words twice. Fred wanted him and he wasn’t going to pass it up. One of his arms slipped behind her knees while the other slipped around her shoulders. He lifted her up and carried her out of the kitchen and down the hallway to his bedroom. He was a bit nervous and hoped he remembered how to do this right.
When they got to his bedroom, Giles was glad he’d taken the time to straighten up before he’d left that morning. He carefully placed Fred on the bed before sliding in next to her. He kissed her again as his hand moved down and rubbed tiny circles on her stomach. Giles wanted to feel her soft skin under his hands so he pulled the hem of her shirt up and ran his fingertips over her bare stomach.
“Are you sure about this?” he asked, breaking the kiss and looking down at her. “You said goodbye to your best friend today and I don’t want to take advantage of that.” Giles didn’t want her to say no but he was willing to pull back if she thought they should stop.
Gasping softly into the kiss as they lay together on his bed, Fred ran her hand up along Rupert's collar. The touch of his fingers on her stomach made the butterflies in her stomach flutter faster and the need lower down throb more.
"I'm...I'm sure," she told him. "I don't want to--Wesley's death taught me that you can't let an opportunity pass you by 'cause you never know what's going to happen. I've finally found someone I want to be with, and I don't want to waste any time we can be together."
A slow smile spread over her face as she suddenly realized she could do something that she hadn't been able to do earlier because they had been at the Council offices. Sliding her hand back down from his collar, she took hold of one of his suspenders and pulled him over her so she could kiss him again.
"I knew there was a reason I liked these," she murmured against his lips.
“And I love it when beautiful women use my braces to pull me into kisses,” Giles said as their lips met again. The kiss was perfect and when they broke apart again, Giles sat up, bringing Fred with him. His fingers ran over the buttons of her blouse before he undid all of them. He slid the material off her shoulders and softly nibbled on her collar bone as he unhooked her bra.
He laid her back on the bed against as he stayed kneeling. His trousers were incredibly tight but he wanted to explore Fred’s body before he plunged himself into her. Leaning down, he cupped one of her breasts with his hand and glazed his thumb over her pert nipple. His mouth found the other one and he sucked the nub into his mouth.
Giles then started to kiss down Fred’s body, noticing how sweet his skin smell. He kissed around her belly button and moved his hands to the top of her skirt. He leaned up again and undid the skirt and pull it, and her knickers, off her hips and down her legs. He could smell her arousal and it was driving him bad.
“I seem to be a bit overdressed,” he commented as he kneeled on the bed again. His fingers ran through her tight curls and softly stroked his wet folds. “Would you mind helping me out of them, love?”
She shook her head and let out a sigh, leaning back against the head rest, the outer burroughs of London passing by in the corner of her eye.
