Cooking and Ninja Assassin

Apr 13, 2010 20:55

I'm absolutely horrible at following long recipes that have intricate steps... so I guess that means I'm "not a good cook". But lemme tell ya...

I CAN BULLSHIT MY WAY THROUGH COOKING A MEAL ALMOST AS WELL AS I CAN A TERM PAPER.

*ahem*

In THAT way, I'm a freaking fantastic cook, lemme tell ya.

For instance, right now I'm eating chicken teriyaki with portebello mushrooms and snowpeas with rice. It's numtacular. Last night I did shrimp, noodles and mixed veg in Yakisoba sauce. The night before, we had rigatoni with a cream sauce that I made from scratch. As long as no one asks me to do it from a recipe, I can make awesome happen.

I watched Ninja Assassin for the first time last night. I was putting off seeing it cause I didn't know if I'd be cringing through the entire thing. I have to admit, I DID judge it from the title. Ninja Assassin??? Please... COME ON!!! I figured it had that name cause A) it was going to be the cheesiest thing I've ever seen, B) It had amazing martial arts and they could afford to call it something like that or C) It was going to be more of a parody.

It turned out that I wasn't completely right on any of these. Closest came to B cause cause the martial arts WERE amazing. Very well done, set up well and they were in interesting settings. I wasn't completely right cause, it didn't end up being as ridiculous a name as I thought. He actually IS a ninja AND an assassin. CONCEPT!!! Go me. I fail at life.

What I didn't expect from this movie was a decent plot. Color me amazed. I knew the guy playing Raizo ( Korean popstar, Rain ) was frickin gorgeous but I didn't know if he'd be a good actor. Granted, he wasn't the most steller actor to ever grace the big screen but he actually did very well. It added a lot to the believability to how everything played out.

*SPOILER*

I also enjoyed the fact that it wasn't him full-filling his role as the assassin he was raised to be, but actually trying to take all of them out. I can get behind tortured heroes something fierce. :)

*END SPOILER*

Okay... time to stop before I go on and on and on...

Later!
Jessi
