Sadly I am going to be the " OMG this book please shoot me!" post. I have Les Chants de Maldoror at the moment and I really gave it my all but it is just not for me. Please can I be re-assigned?

Well, I must admit that doesn't look like a book that would be my first choice either, but I've put it back on the "available" list (and if I get it the next time I run the script for myself, I will give it my best shot).

So, you have a new book.

I had to read Maldoror for Uni and my first reaction was WTF! Poetry can be difficult to get into, especially in a translation, and given Lautrémont's "let's shock and disgust them" attitude... I remember vivdly the part where there is copulation with sea monsters...

So it wasn't the Japanese who invented tentacle-rape, it was the French!

I don't remember tentacles, but it's been a few years since I read this book. I think it was sharks, but I'm not sure... Also, I've just remembered there's a passage with lice too. "Maldoror" really is a strange read :)
