[Static plays over the radio before there's the noise of a door with bells on it opening, the jingling echoing throughout a space.]
Book? [It's Gai's voice calling.] Are you here at the moment?
[There's a loud thud before Book answers.] I'm in the back.
[Quiet footsteps sound as Gai heads back.] Are you busy? I... There was a question I had. And I cannot get it answered. But I think it is likely embarassing, and so you do not have to answer if you do not want to.
Not at all. Give me a minute, I need to finish clearing off this shelf. [there's another thud as Book drops several more volumes into a cart, then hops down off the ladder.] Whatcha need?
Of course. [There's a pause after Book is done.] Bell will not tell me, and teases, so I know it is... of that nature... [He sighs.] Please do not laugh. But what is S&M?
[silence for a moment, before Book makes a weird sound between choking and coughing.]
...It is a stupid question, then. I am sorry. I will go.
No, no, it's not a stupid question. Just...is there a reason that Bell teases you-wait, what am I talking about, it's Bell, he doesn't really need a reason.
[Gai chuckles softly.] No. He does not.
[Book clears his throat.] Alright. Do you want a book, or just a clear explanation? Which would be easier?
Oh. Um. There... Are you saying there is a lot to it? If there is a simple explanation I would like that. [There's some hesistation and trepidation in Gai's voice.]
Well, it mostly depends on who's doing it, but we'll go the less complicated route.[Book clears his throat again, and when he speaks, his tone is professional.] S&M is the shortened version of Sadomasochism. It basically means that one likes to hurt another, or cause them pain for their own enjoyment.
[There's a pause as Gai takes this in.] That does not at all sound... I see. Thank you.
You're welcome. There's more to it, but you get the idea. [Book digs through the cart for a moment, and finally pulls out a volume on S&M.] Here, in case you want more information. I promise, it's not too explicit, and is more of a explanation and guide to how it works.
Oh, good. Explicit books are not... my thing. [He accepts the book, and there's the sound of a few pages being flipped through.] Thank you very much. You are doing well? You have not written in a time.
[The radio fades to silence after that.]
(ooc: Blue is Book, green is Gai, and it's cut for length so we don't stretch the page. Also cut for content.)
