Hey Wackos!*
I reread The Popularity Trap, the 4th or so book in the Fabulous Five serious. The Fabulous Five is like the BSC without the baby-sitting. Each girl is sooo different. It's also an off-shoot of the Taffy Sinclair books.
This is Christie's first story, about how she gets pressure all over the place: from her mom, who wants her to be as academically awesome as her insanely-older-than-her siblings; from her dad, who wants her to take her tennis hobby and get serious about it, but instead of asking her, asks everyone else about/to help her in an obnoxiously passive-aggressive way; her teachers and principal, who know her mom is a principal so expect a lot from her in terms of her grades and behavior; and even her bffs, who put her up for class president without asking.
I think this book is badly named and the beginning is pretty slow, but then everything unfolds quickly and well, if rather simplistically.
Anyone else remember the Fabulous Five?
