Lucy's eyes pleaded with Edmund, but they made no mark. He had contemplated this many times before, and had reached the same conclusion each time: no matter what he tried to do for the woman and her son, it would come to no avail. It was true: Edmund the Just was out of justice.
Lucy ran from the chamber, eyes drenched with tears. Peter and Susan exited mroe calmly, shaking their heads and muttering to themselves. The woman glared at Edmund, leading her son from the room, disgraced. Edmund collapsed on the throne, and wept.
