Well, being a fan of HYD canon for almost 10 years now, I know I'm not supposed to love the Ji Hoo/Jan Di ship but omfg, those writers really know how to put it together! And KHJ as Ji Hoo... you can't hate him. They really wrote a great part for hiim as Jan Di's firefighter protector. And they really know how to neglect the OTP, but only sometimes! It's amazing. They can't even have continuity with themselves.
Jun Hee is still an awesome sister. looking out for her bro still. she's really been where Jun Pyo's been. she knows what he'll have to live with if he goes through with the wedding. and i bet, she knows that her brother won't be able to forget Jan Di. i like that she tells him that no matter what he decides she'll be there for him. but i bet even she knows he won't go through with it.
It's true. What I really like about this portrayal of Jun Hee is that she's a great character and a great person who is like a wise, mature Jun Pyo-with-a-vajayjay. She knows though that JP's has that extra spark to stand up to Mama Kang like she couldn't, which is probably why she has so much hope for JP not going through with this. But yes, she is the wiser, more mature version, therefore... she knows to love him no matter what. It's an excellent character portrayal.
Ee Jung... man i don't even wanna go there. lets just say, i don't like the change they've made in his storyline.
I sort of agree. It's kind of fucked up how the PD, rather than write some backstory and tension to the existing situation, or give Woo Bin his own storyline, meaninglessly draws out the original stories by adding kind of useless conflict. I hate keep going back to canon, but in the original manga, Soujiro treated Sara like crap by missing the "I Like Jiro" reflection off of a building when he was called out and going around with other girls. Yuki went from building to building looking for this sight, Sara delivered similar lines to Soujiro as her k-version did to Ee Jung, and Soujiro sleeps with Yuki to give her closure. That last part makes NO SENSE and would never work in real life the way it did in the manga, but the way they're setting it up now, it's just going to be disastrous or give the audience k-drama blue balls. Or something. PD really needs to step this storyline up NOW and fill in the blanks or take it out back and shoot it.
Ee Jung's storyline is a big mess for me. i dislike a lot about the changes made to it. of recent, i'm really confussed with Eun Jae's place in the story. i don't know what her feelings are about him showing up again in her life. i've mentioned this in an ealier comment above, but it feels like she doesn't really have a purpose, cause she's already moved onto his brother (i also have a problem with this change). in the manga, they had lots of unsaid things to each other, and so her appearance there helped him to move on. here, i don't know what she's supposed to do for him =@ okay, i need to stop myself before i bable and rant.
and for Ji Hoo... i think the writers have a secret crush on Hyun Joong. he's definitely the best Rui. i can't hate him. but i CAN dislike how they've changed and emphasized his love for Jan Di. i did like him being in a love triangle. the triangle was just supposed to be Jae Kyung, Joon Pyo, Jan Di. adding Ji Hoo into the mix and giving us the idea that they may be more OTP than the OTP makes me very mad.
Yeah, that Ji Hoo thing is really crazy. It really makes it interesting to watch, but yeah, it totally blurs the line of OTPness :\ Even in the oneshot Vol 37, Rui's love for Makino was mad-wicked-obvious but he's not so outwardly declaring it with his actions nearly as badly. I'm still trying to figure out if it's a fault of the writers, or KHJ's acting, or a combination of a little of column A and a little of column B.
I think a lot of the reason Eun Jae makes no sense to me is that she really has no background story. Just all these holes. And while it's very typical for them to like, clear it all up later, there are so many glaring errors to the backstory. It's like cheesecloth of a plot the way they built it. I don't think that Eun Jae would've been so bad if they had written that entire arc properly and in an appropriate amount of time. She kind of reminds me of Azumanga Daioh's Osaka, that space cadet of an anime character, where you watch her act and talk (kind of like she has a mental illness or is "slow" or something), and you kind of cock your head and go... "WTF...?!" In this case, it definitely is a combination of her acting and (more at fault) the writers.

i was surprised at that lost volume, too. i think that that's where they're channeling Rui from in the kdrama. but even that in the manga was still out of place. it didn't seem like Rui to me.

Yeah, it frustrates me too. :\
