P.S. I was outrageously lucky that the iBook harddrive didn't die after all, when it had the only copy of the 80,000 words I had written of my science-fiction novel (besides hard copies, but what a lot of typing it would have been to put it all back into documents!). Now I have the PowerBook too -- the iBook was repaired during Finals week of a quarter I was taking a writing class and needed to submit a revised manuscript; luckily I was able to transfer my data to the shiny new PowerBook before sending off the iBook -- and I make sure everything important is saved on both. The iBook still goes with me to classes, and is battered to hell. The PowerBook is my baby, and I had worn the finish off some of the keys within less than a year (I've had it for three).

OMG, you rock too. Everyone has been so wonderful. If you could drop me some of my one shots, that would be terrific. Whatever you have time for.
I can't believe you almost lost your whole book! I am not computer savvy at all-- I guess you can tell--and I need to back up my stuff a lot more. *sigh* But I definitely have a memory stick now.
Thanks so much- Carol
