“But now that she kisses him-kisses him, still-that doesn’t seem true at all; it feels like a beginning. His brain urges him to think, to try and decipher her game, but he can come up with no pragmatic solution to this particular puzzle.“ - this was so very touching, oh Guy. And I liked him getting all defiant on her (“I will not apologize“). And the kissing.
The fact that they are now totally honest with each other and its seductive appeal was kind of fascinating to read. I mean, the way they are now shouting out all their doubts and demands of each other is very passionate and the fact that they unerringly touch all raw nerves shows their connection and not the opposite, in my mind.
BTW, it's not of great importance but thoughts like Guy wishing she “would wait to get a drink“ contribute immensely to my enjoyment of this story (I'm not totally simple-minded, it's more because they make it so real. It's a fact that even or especially in the most serious situation, the human brain fails in some petty details, and I like that you thought about that).
Strangely, I appreciate Guy's “moral principles“ ( wanting to bury the Sheriff) and that he insinsts on them (well, he takes religion and the church very seriously, lol). I mean, he tries to keep his integrity at least partly and as this is something he kind of never did manage in the past, I think it shows that there is more to him.
WE!!! (made me squee)
