Harry Potter may be a very nice boy, but he's far too easily influenced by people like that rude Ron Weasley. You wouldn't believe what I overheard them planning to do today; it's irresponsible and dangerous.

I really think I'm going to have to stop them myself.

Hermione, ah -- while I appreciate your sentiment, perhaps it would be better to involve an adult.

I thought about telling Ron's brother who's a prefect, but if anyone else finds out who knows how many House points they'll dock. If I can stop them on my own, no one will have to worry about that.

I have to imagine that any responsible adult would see the maturity in your actions and award you points as well for behaving correctly instead of trying to deal with this yourself.

But they two of them would still lose points for trying to go ahead with it.

And that argument has no appeal to them? They won't listen?

Not at all.

I still think you're best asking an adult for help, dear.

But if I do, they'll lose points for planning it. I think I'll just have to stop them on my own.

I think you should prioritize the safety of everyone involved over these points, Miss Granger. To be frank.
