Kittyyyy!!!!!
As of last week, I'm now sharing my apartment with a very adorable Siamese kitty named Chester! ^__^ He had been abandoned, and two of my friends from my M.A. program had been looking after him; but they couldn't adopt him, because one of my friends is allergic to cats; so they were looking for a home for him, and I volunteered. I'm so glad that I did, because he's really a wonderful cat, with so much personality!
On the day I brought him home after taking him to the vet's for his shots, he mostly lounged around in a secluded spot next to the couch, because he was drowsy from the effects of the meds. The next day, when I got out of bed and went into the bathroom to brush my teeth, a little cat wandered in to greet me, and I cried, because I was so happy to have a cat of my own again.
Chester is very playful, and loves his toy balls and dangly toys. ^__^ It's hilarious to watch him play with the balls - he doesn't just play with them; he hunts them, sending them running and then stalking them and pouncing on them. As befits the reputation of Siamese cats, he's also very chatty! The other day, I overheard him as he was sitting on the kitchen windowsill telling off a cat who'd wandered onto our roof and right up to the window. It was fascinating to watch - the closest I can come to describing it is to say that I never knew a cat could sound like that; it was the closest I've ever heard a cat come to sounding human!
For the most part, he's quite a well-behaved cat, although I'll have to train him out of his habit of walking across the kitchen counter and stove to get to the kitchen window - as adorable as he looks perched at the window, I'd rather not have his hair all over the stove top! Tonight, the silly kitty even managed to knock one of the burner trays into his water dish!
I'll post some pictures of Chester as soon as I can - he really is a beautiful cat, with adorable big blue eyes. For now, though, I have to get to work on my major research paper, so Chester joins me in saying *purr,* and goodnight! ^__^
