Adventures aplenty in the home. Her father insists she come to lunch, and the cook has surreptitiously seen to it that her utensils won't let her eat. Going to the attic to see fireworks reveals some of her past with her younger brother and what he resents in her. She learns how Eckles is being treated -- after all, no one else knows he's a major character, given they don't know he's in the game.-- and has to deal with it, and then with a confrontation between him and her older brother. And the crown prince sees to it that she comes to the hunting tournament.
She still assumes that winning conditions will let her escape, and when she thought on those lines, I was jolted, but it was not major.
