Some mood whiplash. First from the end of last volume, since this opens with lighthearted apprenticeship stuff at the fair: the question of studies and work, how Agott's plan for vindication had fallen through, adventures around the fair for someone who shouldn't be there. Just hints about the king brush on something darker.
Then Coco is suddenly passionate about getting into the procession: even more so than Agott. It flashes back to Custas and Dagda, and we learn some very dark secrets. And it ends on another cliffhanger.
