2022 books completed, so far...

Sadly, my monthly book group left Livejournal, and I am not into social media hopping. I still want to talk about books, since I have some OCD tendencies, so I'll share my reading here, although my posts may not be as well written as some. For now, this is what I have read so far this year. I will do more detailed posts as I finish new books. If ( Read more... )

I am currently reading To Play the Fool. I have read all the Kate Martinelli books before and am enjoying the re-reads. I am a fan of historical novels and absolutely love the twists in Fevre Dream, as well as the history in it.

I have enjoyed the Martinelli series so far. I am also starting to read her Mary Russell series. I think I'm favoring Martinelli, but I'm only a couple books in on each. They're all pretty good, so far.

I actually wasn't overwhelmed by Fevre Dream, although it was certainly different to have a vampire interested in paddlewheel racing. 😏 I thought Windhaven was pretty good even though the last third of it lost a lot of momentum. Of course, A Song of Ice and Fire is his swansong. I'm only a couple books in to that as well.

My only complaint with Martin's Ice and Fire series is that he hasn't finished it yet!!! I wish he would.

I read about 6 of the Mary Russell books. I liked them, especially the first couple, but they became too much the same and I stopped reading them. I definitely prefer the Martinelli series.

Have you read any of Dana Stabenow's books? She writes a PI series set in Alaska with Kate Shugak and her sidekick Mutt as the main characters. Not only is the writing good, and the mysteries solid, but she makes Alaska into a main character in the books. I love that.

I read a blurb where Martin said the next book is going to be the biggest so far...😲 I'm several books behind, so I can give him some time, as long as he survives to finish!

I haven't read Stabenow. It's not a mystery, but The Snow Child from my list was set in turn of the 20th century Alaska. It was about settlers in the wilderness with the fairy tale of The Snow Child woven into the plot.

Have you read Martin's Tuf Voyaging? It's fabulous SF! Might be a bit hard to find, but worth it. And that spelling is correct: Tuf.

I haven't. I was trying to collect all the books for each author I have, but I hadn't come across that one in my used book buying. I've had to cut back on buying for economic reasons and because I am running out of time to read what I already have. But, maybe it will cross my path someday. 😊
