Charles Dickens

I'm currently reading David Copperfield, and although it's taking me a while to read (after two weeks, I'm only on page 365 of 877, as I'm a slow reader), I'm really enjoying it. It's my first Charles Dickens book, and I was afraid to read Dickens in case the language or plot was difficult to follow, and the length of his novels intimidated me a bit. But I'm glad I gave Dickens a go, and I think I made the right choice in choosing David Copperfield, as it's making me want to read another Dickens novel.

So, fellow bookish members, what Dickens novels do you recommend, or recommend I don't read? What are you opinions on his novels? The novels that interest me, based on plot, are Oliver Twist, Nicholas Nickleby, The Old Curiosity Shop, and Great Expectations. I also want to read A Christmas Carol. (Has anyone read any of the other Christmas Books?)

For those of you who have read David Copperfield, I do have a question: several times David’s aunt, Betsey Trotwood, has made a reference to “his sister, Betsey Trotwood”. I’m a bit confused by that, as he did not have a sister. Who is she referring to? Herself? I just can’t figure it out!
