Update on the Mercy Thompson series

I...

Okay, let me start by saying that I'll be at the very least picking up the fourth book. After that, I don't know; from now on I'll be going book by book.

While I really did enjoy the plot, and I think Briggs handled Mercy's rape and the aftermath extremely well...

... then the last two pages had to happen.

Look, I know a lot of people have issues with the scene where Adam is pissed off because his daughter was beaten up, and seems to be taking it out on her. I don't; it's not about Adam, it's about how Jesse and Mercy handle it and him.

What I have issues with is Adam showing up in Mercy's bed about a week after her rape, obviously expecting sex. It doesn't make it any better than Mercy apparently obliges. The only thing that possibly saves this from being an especially egregious example of Healing Cock is that Briggs ends the book before anything actually happens. Maybe Mercy didn't have sex with him. Maybe she did, but it wasn't as easy as she thought it would be. Maybe she did and the magical properties of Adam's Huge Healing Cock cured all her mental and emotional wounds.

Point is, I don't know. And I'm extremely confused that Briggs could handle such a thing as rape so well, then write this scene at all. I hate this scene, I wish it hadn't happened, but I want to see how it affects future books.

:/
