Yes, this. And also, arousal doesn't equal consent. Nor does secretly maybe being interested in the rapist. The only thing that equals consent is actual consent.

I think I read this book when I was 15. I remember not liking the ending. But I have to be honest, the most memorable character in the book after all this time was not either the male or female protagonist, it was the nursemaid. That's kind of a pathetic statement about her book in and of itself....
