Blonde Roots...I see what you're doing but...no

Blonde Roots.

What if slavery happened to Europeans at the hands of black or African people? What if it was set in an indeterminate time? What if we changed the name of just about everything? What a slave woman who was kind of ‘meh’ with her inner dialogue told her story?

Well then you’d have “Blonde Roots”.

I didn’t out right hate this book but there were so many problems. The humor of the book for the most part came off as…well…off. I found myself not really liking the main character. There were elements that I could were supposed to be clever but didn’t work for me.

All in all I’d give the book 3 out 5. Yep. That score.

this review is lazy. I’m tired. I’d recommend Lion’s Blood over this. It’s a heavier read but it feels more true to life and the characters on both side invoke strong emotion.

Basically, I had to struggled to finish book because half way through I found myself not caring about anyone or anybody in the damn book. I was pissed because I had high hopes for the book.

The concept is interesting but the execution was lazy and the humor was flat.

character development fail, author last names a-f, booksnarks, there is a plot where somewhere
